About the Journal
Indonesian Journal of Culture and Religion (IJCR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal published by Nohan Institute. The journal is committed to disseminating high-quality, innovative research and scholarly work that explores the intricate connections between culture, religion, and society. It serves as a platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to examine the dynamic interplay of religious beliefs, cultural practices, and social transformations, particularly within the Indonesian and Southeast Asian contexts.
IJCR welcomes original empirical studies, theoretical and conceptual papers, literature reviews, and case studies that investigate religious expression, cultural anthropology, interfaith relations, religious education, and the role of faith in public life. By encouraging interdisciplinary perspectives and diverse methodological approaches from fields such as religious studies, sociology, anthropology, history, and philosophy, the journal aims to foster critical dialogue and collaboration among scholars, religious leaders, and policymakers.
To ensure academic rigor and integrity, IJCR applies a double-blind peer-review process, whereby all submitted manuscripts undergo thorough evaluation by subject-matter experts. Manuscripts must be original and not under review or previously published in other journals. Articles can be submitted in English or Indonesian.
The journal follows an open-access policy under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) license, ensuring free and unrestricted access to its contents and promoting the broad dissemination of knowledge to national and international academic communities.
IJCR is published two times a year (May and September). Through its dedication to excellence in the study of culture and religion, ethical publication standards, and global accessibility, IJCR seeks to become a leading source of scholarly insight and a vital forum for understanding the complex role of religion in culturally diverse societies.
