FOCUS
Journal of Educational Assessment and Evaluation (JEAE) focuses on the development, implementation, and innovation of assessment and evaluation practices in education. The journal aims to advance understanding of how assessment contributes to improving learning outcomes, instructional quality, curriculum development, and educational policy. It emphasizes both theoretical and practical studies that explore authentic, formative, and summative assessment methods across educational levels and disciplines.
JEAE seeks to promote evidence-based approaches in evaluating teaching effectiveness, student performance, program success, and institutional accountability. It also highlights the role of educational measurement, psychometrics, data analytics, and technology-enhanced assessment in shaping equitable and data-driven educational practices. The journal places strong emphasis on both the Indonesian educational landscape and global developments in educational evaluation and assessment research.
SCOPE
The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:
Assessment Theory and Practice
Covers the philosophical, theoretical, and practical foundations of educational assessment. Topics include formative and summative assessment, authentic and alternative assessment, assessment for learning (AfL), assessment as learning (AaL), and assessment of learning (AoL).
Measurement and Psychometrics
Focuses on the design, validation, and application of measurement instruments in education. Includes item response theory (IRT), test construction, reliability and validity analysis, rubrics development, and scaling techniques for both cognitive and affective domains.
Program and Institutional Evaluation
Examines evaluation frameworks and methodologies used to assess educational programs, curriculum effectiveness, institutional performance, and policy impact. Topics include logic models, CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation, Kirkpatrick model, and outcome-based education evaluation.
Technology-Based Assessment
Explores the integration of digital tools and platforms to enhance assessment practices. Topics include online testing systems, computer-based adaptive testing (CAT), e-portfolios, AI-assisted grading, learning analytics, and data visualization for educational decision-making.
Teacher Assessment Literacy and Professional Competence
Addresses teachers’ understanding and application of assessment principles. Includes professional development in assessment literacy, data-driven instruction, feedback techniques, reflective assessment practices, and teacher evaluation systems.
Student Learning Evaluation and Feedback
Focuses on the use of assessment to support student learning and self-regulation. Topics include feedback design, peer and self-assessment, metacognitive assessment, and motivational factors influencing student achievement and engagement.
Policy and Quality Assurance in Education
Explores how national and institutional policies shape assessment and evaluation systems. Includes accreditation standards, educational accountability, performance indicators, and governance models that promote quality assurance in education.
Inclusive and Equitable Assessment
Examines assessment practices that accommodate diverse learners, including students with disabilities and those from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Topics include universal design for learning (UDL), differentiated assessment, and culturally responsive evaluation.
