FOCUS

The Journal of Psychology and Character Education (JPCE) centers on advancing scholarly understanding of psychology, character development, and social-emotional learning in diverse social, cultural, and educational contexts. The journal emphasizes research that:

  • Examines how psychological principles, character education programs, and social-emotional learning strategies influence student development, well-being, and educational outcomes.

  • Explores interactions, communication patterns, and moral reasoning processes in formal and informal learning environments.

  • Investigates the intersections of psychology, education, culture, and equity in shaping holistic development and effective learning experiences.

  • Promotes innovative, inclusive, and reflective approaches to character education, psychological interventions, and developmental research.

JPCE aims to facilitate intellectual exchange among educators, psychologists, researchers, and policymakers to deepen theoretical and empirical insights into student character development, social-emotional learning, and psychological well-being both locally and globally, with particular attention to the Indonesian context and international perspectives.

 

SCOPES

The scope of JPCE includes, but is not limited to, the following areas and themes:

Character and Moral Development
Focuses on fostering students’ ethical reasoning, empathy, responsibility, and integrity. Topics include moral education programs, character-building strategies, and value-based learning initiatives.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Well-Being
Explores interventions and practices that support emotional regulation, resilience, interpersonal skills, and psychological well-being. Topics include SEL curricula, mindfulness programs, stress management, and mental health promotion in schools.

Educational Psychology and Learning Processes
Investigates cognitive, motivational, and behavioral aspects of learning and development. Topics include learning strategies, student engagement, metacognition, and motivation-enhancing interventions.

Inclusive and Equity-Focused Education
Addresses practices and approaches that promote inclusivity, diversity, and equity in character and psychological development. Topics include gender-sensitive education, culturally responsive teaching, special needs education, and social justice in schools.

Digital and Technology-Mediated Learning
Examines the integration of digital tools and technology to enhance psychological and character development. Topics include online SEL programs, educational apps, digital interventions, and technology-mediated mentoring.

Teacher and Counselor Roles in Character Education
Analyzes the impact of teachers, counselors, and educational psychologists in fostering students’ psychological growth and character development. Topics include teacher-student relationships, mentoring, and professional development for educators.

Cross-Cultural and Comparative Studies
Explores psychological and character development across diverse cultural and social contexts. Includes ethnographic studies, international comparative research, and cross-cultural perspectives on moral and social-emotional education.

Assessment, Evaluation, and Learning Outcomes
